ICB Accepting applications for 2014 fund

The International Charity Bazaar (ICB) like to support community projects and in 2013 helped fund an outdoor gym for adults with autism, a therapeutic garden for children with disabilities and many more projects.

They'll accept applications from Irish registered charities to a maximum amount of €20,000

Charity Hack

The first Charity Hack of 2014 took place at the weekend!

Charity Hack is a simple concept which takes amazing charities and the most talented people you can find and puts them in a room together for 12 hours to create brand new fundraising and awareness campaigns!

Charity Regulatory Board

Minister Alan Shatter confirmed that the board of the new Charities Regulatory Authority will be in place before Easter.

This week he will be issuing the call for expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for appointment to the board of a new Charities Regulatory Authority.

In the wake of the CRC revelations, it has been noted that it is important the public trust and confidence in the charity sector be repaired. According to the Wheel 97% of charities fear their reputation have been effected by the scandal. It is hoped that the appointment of the Charities Regulatory Authority will increase transparency and accountability.

Are you SEPA ready?

SEPA will be coming into effect on the 1st of February 2014 and will effect the way you make and receive payments electronically.

SEPA stands for Single Euro Payment Area and it will be in effect in 32 countries in Europe, including Ireland. It's aim is to make transferring and receiving funds easier by ensuring that all euro direct debits and credit transfers are executed under the same conditions.

It's really important that your accounting, payroll and direct debit systems are SEPA ready before the 1st of February so don't leave it to the last minute!

You may need to contact your bank or accounting software supplier for advice.

DealEffect.ie is a new Irish deal site with a difference, it returns 11% of its revenue to registered charities!

Customers of Deal Effect sign up and choose their location and preferred charity that will receive a donation from their purchases.

Deal Effect's 'Buy to Help' vision aims to donate over 2.1 million to the charity industry over the next 3 years.

So far 30 charities have signed up to become founding charities with Deal Effect, advertising the website to their supporters. Other charities can now sign up for notifications on other ways they can get involved and other opportunities.
